Go to epinions are dig around there for some good advice and real world reviews.  I would advise to spend a few more bucks and get a better than cheaper one when you go to make a decision.

You should look for Canadian Made Starter. I know some of them and their offices also in Montreal

1. AutoStart
2. AstroStart
3. PowerStart

Do not use the one in U.S or China. They are not good on COOOOOOLLLLLLLDDDDDD weather. For southern state, zero degree is very cold for them but for us, it's nothing in winter.

My experience :

My old 93 cavalier has power starter installed 5 years ago, it still working now under -25 last January and today in Toronto

My new car has AutoStart 2-Way installed last October and it works today too under -25

My brother has CompuStar 2-Way, it's the best brand in U.S. It does not work today, too cold for it

Made in China, I do not have experience but I doubt. If you want cheap and give it a try, go for it.

AstroStart is good remote starter too, but it us AM instead of FM. Most 2-Way Starter now use FM, better reception

Good Luck

I have a Compuster 2 way paging LCD alarm with remote start since the summer of 2002. Working fine after some initial tweaking for the alarm sensitivity. Remote starts fine even when overnight temps go down as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius (occurred last week and past winters)....I park my vehicle outside all the time. Luv that LCD remote....starts the car while I am in the store and lets you know what it's status.
