2005 Volvo S40 pricing
« on: December 11, 2004, 01:10:50 pm »
I did a search and read through most of the threads on the new S40. While most people like it, there's a general consensus as to its pricing.

I priced the model and options I wanted at about $37k through Volvocanada.com

What realistic On The Road pricing can I expect?

In other words, is Volvo pricing comparable to BMW or Mercedes' no discounting policy?

It's the fact that I have to add a certain package in order to get another that jacks up the price. I'm not looking to get a cheap ride. I have the money; it's just that I don't know too much about Volvos in general.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking at one too and I have the same problem with the T5 AWD, in order to get the Sports package, you have to take the comfort one... At least they give you a discount for it ($1200 I think) All priced out, it came up to $39000 so I'd be interested in knowing the Invoice too and the general "flexibility" of Volvo.

Call a Volvo dealership, I beleive there is a Volvo Canada cash to dealer ($1,000)incentive this month.
Maybe EAX, who is a regular poster on these forums
will be along, he has helped many here with invoice prices.
I would imagine mark up is between 6-7 percent.

But call a dealership and ask what incentives are possible.
Dealing with Volvo, I have found to be hassle free, no BS, etc, the cars sell themselves, so no pressure tactics are needed from the salespeople,
also found Volvo will work with you as far as discounting within reason.

BTW, I just wanted to add that whatever car I buy, it will be my first car. I'm looking at anything from A MINI, Ford Focus or Fusion, Volvo S40 to a G35 sedan.

It all depends on the insurance, and it all depends on the final price of the car. There are advantages and disadvantages for each car above. Right now, the S40 tickles me the most for its interior, safety features, and relative exclusivity.

Yqtyyz,

Between those cars, I can attest that the S40 is by far and away the best out the bunch.  It has the safety, handling, power and drive that for the price, makes the competition look under powered and over priced.  If you want, I just bought a S40 T5 and the gentleman I dealt with was straight forward without any pressure and gave me the best price out of all the dealerships I visited, I can give you his contact info and you can speak to him about your car.  Just repost a message if you want this info.

Welcome to the forum, Mr. Volvo.  I'm the old hag in the group.

Great first post.  The S40 is definitely a popular vehicle.  In fact, it will likely be my next car in a couple of years, because, among other things, I like its distinctive look.  (My uncle has an S80, and it's just beautiful inside as well.  He loves it.)

Actually, there was a huge kerfuffle about the S40  in here a few weeks ago, IIRC.  Some ass clown showed us pictures of his with a ridiculous wing on it.  I couldn't believe it.  And he was such a snot about it, too.  Can't remember the thread topic.

In any case, welcome.

Brigitte

Brigitte he was the Dickheaded Salesman who knew everything about Nothing. I felt sorry for Volvo haveing him on their staff. He does not do this car any justice at all. Too high a quality built unit for the likes of him.

You guys are talking about that red S40 right?  I remember that yahoo.  He had not an ounce of talent in modifying that Volvo.  He might as well bought an 88 Civic...those mods he did really ruined the clean lines of the S40.

Yup, that's the one.  Sad waste of a perfectly nice car.

It's a toss up right now....there might actually be a person out there that is really....THAT stupid.  It's a rare event that a person of such stupidity graces us with his presence.  I hope he comes back....I want to take a picture so I can remember the day when I met "THE DUMBEST PERSON ON EARTH"....hopefully he'll be standing beside that sh*thole of a car.
