Just a reminder Sunday is the season finale' of the Champcar World Series.

Unbelievable to many that they would have a season, let alone make it to the end of it.  Hats off to the Amigo's for making this happen, and for the secure future the series now has!

Anyways, the Race is on TSN Sunday,  3:30 est.  Of course this overlaps the Roughrider/Eskimo game so get your VCR's dusted off!!!

Notes from Qualifying:

Tracy, Carp and Tags had forgettable qualifying sessions.  I had PT's radio open for Q2, and he hated the car, they had great difficulty in set up all weekend, every session when he was about to finally get a good time someone would stuff their car and cause a red flag.  PT managed to Q 6th, but Lavin into the tires prevented him from posted a strong fast lap to get close to the front.
Pat is starting 8th, Tags unlucky 13th.  Now another Canadian twist, Michael Valliente, the youngster from Vancouver is getting his first career start tomorrow.  He is driving an underachieving Reynard chassis, and managed to Q 12th, with a very respectable time.  Only 2 of the 19 cars are Reynards and they are known to be much slower than the Lola's.  The fact that he out qualified 7 others, 6 of which were driving Lola's, on his first attempt shows this kid has talent!!!!!

Bourdais and Junquera battled hard.  Junky got the prov pole in Q1 yesterday, putting him 21 points behind Seabass for the championship.  Seabass responded today with a blazing fast 1:25:9 lap.  PT's pole speed last year was in the 1:28's.  In fact 17 of 19 cars Qualified faster than last year's pole sitter.
1:25:9 is also a new track record.  Faster than 2002, when the cars had traction control, and were running close to 200 hp more than they are today.  This feat is simply amazing, and I suggest the Tech inspectors look for traces of Kryptonite in Seabass' car.
Seabass has to finish 12th or better to clinch.  Barring accident, it's his to lose for sure.

Other notes.  Nelson Philippe is sporting Scotiabank sponsorship this weekend.  Nice to see Canadian sponsors, but hopefully the future will see it on a car belonging to someone from Canada, not a French/Brazilian living in Miami.

And speaking of Canadian teams and sponsors,
here's some great news.

Eric Jenson is starting a Canadian Based Champcar Team which will compete a Canadian driver in 5 races next year.
