Has anyone been to one of these? A couple of local club members are planning to attend, and I'm thinking of joining them as it sounds like fun. Can anyone share their experiences from these events?

That would be interesting and informative to do. Also beats hell out of skating on the Rideau Canal.

I've done it, it's quite fun. You get all kinds of cars participating, even people with minivans. One guy in his minivan was doing handbrake turns the whole day and he was having lots of fun.

Since they run all the cars on the same course during the practice, with my AWD with good winter tires, I found that I had to go really slow on the straights to make sure I didn't catch up to the next guy, so I could get some speed around the corners. Many people go to the school with all-season tires.

If you've done Solo II before, you might not learn anything new, the course covers mostly the basics. But for most people, I think this is a must-do.

If you've done this course, then go out to one of these and put your newfound skills to use.

Hey, maybe I'll do this, I was going to do the slush and slide but I think I need new struts and they are 101.50 each :-(

One event might be fun in the subaru and having snows and AWD it might be fun, I bet my snows are no match for Ray's though!

OY!  I just checked out the pricing, I think I would rather just do a slush and slide at that price.

The price is this is actually quite a bargain compared to any other full day advanced driving course. Some of the instructors are professional instructors with years of racing experience.

You get LOTS of practice time, and an experienced instructor sits with you the whole time telling you what you are doing wrong.

Yes but you can slide around all day with an experience solo II driver for only $30 at the slush and slide :-)

Sure, but they aren't comparable. It's the difference between having a golfing lessons, versus going out to the driving range by yourself. The slush-n-slide is run just like a normal solo II event....there are no instructors unless you bring your own experienced racing instructor.

Also, you need to buy a helmet too or borrow one.
