^We’ve also got a 9th gen Civic in the fleet. I really like the speedo placement.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Went to a launch event last evening, so I'm probably the first here to have actually seen this in the flesh. It's very sleek,

Would you buy one?

The "BZ4X" approach to IP design gives me pause - I'll have to drive one to make up my mind. Odd to have to look at your display ABOVE the steering wheel. The car itself looks really hot, with lots of sculpting and detailing.
I asked Jeff if this was an issue at all and he said "nope".

I've heard others say it's like looking at a heads up display.

Exactly correct - better than an HUD, in fact.  There will be some folks who either drive gangsta-style with the seat really reclined, or have very odd physiology who might find issue with the placement (but then, that'd be the same for any gauge pod), but otherwise, it's a complete non-issue when you're driving.  Need info - look down - there's info -- carry on.

From owning a 9th gen civic (the same setup as the 8th) for  over 10 years the speedo does not get in the way. ::) It's a non issue. The steering wheel also adjusts. I don't know what he talking about.
Me either.

The CSX is the same way....somehow not an issue for our new driver.

I had to compromise in my Civic.  I found it got in the way. I'd set the steering wheel up so it would rest on my knees, so I could see the clock, then my shoulder would give me grief, I could never get really comfortable position to see the dials. Maybe just me.  :)

Looks like Toyota isn’t expecting to sell tons of this - I mean to be expected…given the kind of $$ they are asking for:

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a42256447/toyota-prius-sales-expected-low/

Might be a success in Canada, all the cab drivers will need to replace their Prius some day.

Went to a launch event last evening, so I'm probably the first here to have actually seen this in the flesh. It's very sleek, so sleek that I don't think cabbies will buy them. Think 1986-89 Celica hatchback sleek. I barely fit in the back, little headroom, and the trunk looks smaller than before. Up front the sport coupe vibe is strong, seating is very low, and the BZ4X-style "ergonomics" have you lowering the small steering wheel to be able to glance at the instrument screen.

In other words, Toyota built a Prius for car guys!

Edit: this is the Prius Prime, not the regular hybrid.
Local cab company already has 70 on order to replace their current fleet over the next 3y…!

This is going to make for a sleek cabbie

I checked in the afternoon, it was there. After I saw the Motormouth review.
