I love that whole series of truck and suvs, they just looked good. Solid drivetrains, comfortable interiors, cheap to maintain/fix, what else do you need?!!??
Lighten up Francis.....

Always thought they were nice driving trucks too, inherently stable compared to say, the Dodges of the day. The 3/4 tons also had a nice ride, much better than both the Dodges and the Fords of the time

My brother had a honey brown diesel 3/4 ton, and what sold him was the ride quality

The car play is one stereo install away, as is a touchscreen deck.....as for the rest of that garbage, you can keep it.

I've had Apple Carplay on my 02 Sequoia, 06 Matrix, 12 3, 09 5, 07 Explorer. Unfortunately my Fiesta needs an upgrade from Sync2 to Sync3 as Sync cannot be replaced with an aftermarket deck.

No one "needs" a lot of things but they sure are nice to have.  ;)

No, I would take carplay over all the other nannies that are so prevalent in todays cars.

No picking and choosing! Manual and shift separate mechanical transfer case selector would be awesome! Air tilt cruise!

Manual hubs as well!! I would love a Suburban with a manual, granny low, with a manual t-case and solid axles, but, that wouldn't fly in todays world of soy lattes and skinny jeans  ;D

My last work truck was a 2006/7 GMC 2500HD with the 6.0 V8.  I inherited from a retired coworker at ~220k km and it was quite beat on by the time it got handed to me.  Still, it was quite solid and drove well enough but the bench seat was terrible and I had to use an obus forme seat support to get any semblance of comfort.  It developed a misfire at ~250k that didn't get resolved despite trying 3 different service centres, including the dealer.  I had it for just over a year before it got replaced with my current F-150 and it still had the misfire when it went to auction.  It was rusty by that time but nowhere near as bad as my current F-150, and the Ford was Rustchecked for the first 3 years; the GMC not at all...lol  To be fair my current F-150 is way beyond the normal replacement schedule due to supply-chain bs but the level of rust penetration was still beyond that of the GMC at the same stage of life.

Just my two cents.  ;D

Um, I'll drive a manual Suburban towing my camper while sipping my soy latte in skinny jeans.

I'm thinking of putting my Explorer up for sale to get a 2500 Suburban. I see a few on Kijiji.

Can't say I miss manual hubs

Worked fine in the bush when you left them engaged all winter but the 'engage them before you get stuck dummy' idea was not that great in general driving

I put them on an '87 Pathfinder when the stock (automatic) hubs failed. IIRC, I just left them engaged for most of the winter. You'd lose a bit of fuel economy, but as long as 4WD wasn't engaged on the transfer case, there was no problem driving on pavement with the hubs locked.

The Yukon basically works that way: no way to disengage the front hubs, so front axle shafts are always turning.

I never had an issue with them, locked them in November and left them locked all winter and I would lock them when I deflated my tires when going off road

If this is what you truly believe, why don't you have one, I stead of a Lexus or a Ridgeline?

Wife wanted a brand new vehicle, I wanted a truck. If she would have been open to a used vehicle, a Yukon/Tahoe of this year would have been #1 on my list, no used, so no bueno.
