Corvette as a Brand

Interesting business speak  :rofl2:

"Corvette is not just a brand. It's a constantly evolving system paired with a dramatically different user experience."

"The aim is not to beat Taycan and Cayenne at their own game but to create three American legends capable of breaking new ground by making the essence of Corvette scalable. To do so, that essence must at all times be in a state of progressive flux,"

I'm sure GM is looking at Porsche, with their fat margins, and saying why not?

Actually, I think they should go for it.
I love it when a plan comes together.

I don't have any issue with it and think it could be interesting, I'm just not sure how they'll distinguish the models from the others that they already have.  If there's already a performance EV Blazer SS coming, how will a Corvette branded model differ?

Corvette is a single specialty vehicle made at a dedicated plant, my biggest concern with ramping up from that would be for typical GM quality and reliability problems getting introduced, thus eroding the brand

I'm thinking it might overlap with Cadillac more, no?

I'm perfectly fine with Corvette expanding...if it means more generations of ICE sports cars.  Considering Ford has a EV CUV with the Mustang brand, I don't see how this is much different.

Who knows, maybe they'll make something that truly is a great performance CUV/sedan.  I mean the current Vette is pretty fantastic (if you can get past the lack of a manual), so it's not they aren't capable of making something special.

Agreed - but as Gurgie notes - isn't that what Cadillac is doing?

I would think that Caddy is trying to be more luxury (talking about their EV's) and Vette will likely go more performance.  That being said, I would not be at all surprised if you see shared platforms or power plants.

I doubt it.

Then let it die.  I think regardless of what happens with fossil fuels and emissions, there should be a handful of sports cars made.  Likely only the 911, Vette, etc, but still offer something that stirs the soul.
