I've been driving the son's 2020 F150 Screw 4x4 with 2.7 / 3.73 gears more than he does and the lie o meter is stuck on 12.2 l/100km. That's with running 15 mins on remote start twice a day. Plus that's hauling a packed bed to the dump frequently. Although, driving is 3/4s highway @ 100 km/h.
Went on Fuelly.com and they have the same unit @ 12.0 l/100km.
I dunno, the hybrids solve the stop/start nonsense but so does a $100 by-pass cable.
My 2 cents is that the Ford or Tundra hybrids' primary purpose is not to save gas. Particularly in the States where gasoline will never get tax obscene like in Canada.
If I where buying a F150, would I spring for the Hybrid version for $5K? Definitely not over the 2.7 gasser.
If I was buying a Tundra and got stuck with the 3.5, ya, I'd insist on the hybrid version. Doesn't apply to me at my stage in the life cycle, but if I was thinking of going the distance, then no I would not. When this hybrid falls out of warranty (8 years), the cost will be epic. Eventually some part of it will fail.
