how is it nicer??

It's not a scooter.

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

It's not a scooter.

He's not trying to please the Bikes and Coffee crowd IIRC.   ;D

I don't think it's nicer.  I rode that BMW (in the "R" model, not the GS) and it's a turd.

I'd rather the scooter over that BMW turd....and the scooter is head and shoulders a better commuter.  Not even close.

So it he wants something "nicer" in style?  Yep..the 310 is nicer.

If he wants something "nicer" for commuting?  The scooter is nicer.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I'm just messin'.

I just thought with some comfort stuff and luggage it could tick the boxes.

I think you're not wrong...you can make almost any bike "yours" and outfit it to do what you want.  Once I got the bag, screen, grips, etc on my CB500X, it was a really good commuter.

But some are better starting points than others depending on needs, budget, etc.

But I think you already know all of this.   ;D

i don't think you could make it as comfortable as a scooter...as well, the scooter has storage built into it, so it's not additional bulky items that need to be added on to it...the under seat storage keeps the weight low to the ground as well as centered on the bike...side cases makes the bike wider at the rear and i find they sometimes get in the way of your legs when you are getting on or off the bike (although, you likely get used to it if they are there all the time)...that part is more noticeable on bikes with higher seat heights...i don't have the flexibility i did 20 years ago.

^^I really think you'll be pleased with the Burgman.

I'd recommend a Givi Aeroflow windscreen, however.

Hey Bob, just curious.

I know you have plenty of experience with the CRF250L.

Given that, was wondering why you'd suggest the BMW 310 over the Honda 300 Rally?

I'd take either, it was just the first thing that sprung to mind.

Oh, ok.  I kinda thought that might be it....but half wondered if there was another reason.

like this?

https://fortnine.ca/en/givi-windshield-clear-d3115st?pk_cid=1768300489&pk_campaign=pla-677165542510&pk_kwd=&pk_source=google&pk_medium=paid&pk_content=70393578393&gclid=CjwKCAiAp4KCBhB6EiwAxRxbpKy-2iFIA5CI7N5gYbkG-319Y4JL1KDfQv2YgqD7Djy2rm8k1bdfXhoCpfYQAvD_BwE

it says it's for a 2018, but i would imagine it's the same for the 2020 model (i think the only thing they changed was the colour of the bike.

looks like they also make handguards as well:  https://fortnine.ca/en/givi-handguards-hp3115?pk_cid=1768300489&pk_campaign=aud-308888279495:pla-677165536550&pk_kwd=&pk_source=google&pk_medium=paid&pk_content=70393578393&gclid=CjwKCAiAp4KCBhB6EiwAxRxbpKff-k7okMHA3xKYhUXWWPEgHfTPOECGcK3Itp-4oSlPbEOLrrd5NBoCldAQAvD_BwE

likely the only two accessories i'd get (i think the heated handgrips are interesting, but maybe the handguards would be good enough.

No, this one.

Airflow version is adjustable and works really, really well.

In the city, you can keep it in the down position. Hit the highway and you raise it up. It also prevents buffeting as it's a bit like an airfoil.

not sure if i'd like that split design...kind of prefer the look of a one piece...in any case, i'd likely try it with the stock one first since i'd likely do little highway driving on it anyway.
