I dunno if it's embarrassing really. Porsche just wants you to step up to an S or GTS or Turbo if you want more power.
i don't know, using a VW GTI engine in a porsche that starts at 58k bucks? that's pretty darn lame. if you have to share engines, use one that isn't shared with a car that costs 25-30k less.

Yep. The previous gen Q3 has the same engine as my 10 year old GTI.
The EA888 family remains among the most advanced four-cylinder engines on the market, though. In terms of power, efficiency, and refinement, it's a great platform. Also note that the engine has evolved a lot since it was launched - it's currently in its third evolution, with the fourth coming next year in the new MK8 GTI.
