I've mentioned before due to area that I see test mules weekly here. Plus the industry I work in and know people who work for the OEMs I get to see interesting and new stuff regularly.
Well today I got to check out a C8 hard top convertible. Although I didn't know this guy personally, we chatted industry and he was kind enough to let me in the new Vette. Nice guy and good PR IMO.
Some thoughts:
Car was ROUGH. Pretty normal for a test mule. Camo tape was off the car save for the convertible pillars. There were still bits of tape all over the car.
Rear of car is wide and somewhat tall looking when directly behind. Same look as most exotics.
Rear turn signals are sequential, like a Mustang.
Front signals are a light pipe that double as DRL. White when in DRL mode, yellow when turn signal activated.
Interior was still somewhat mocked up. Base car too. Orange seat belts. Had a big emergency stop button on the dash.
Engine sounds awesome. Loud, but seemed a bit more refined sounding than typical American V8. A bit euro if you ask me.
IQ teased the guy and said "where's the stick? "
Guy driving it said he's never driven a proper sports car. Which prompted me to ask what testing he was doing. He was an infotainment engineer. His job? Make sure it works smoothly. He mentioned a big thing was making sure it changed networks when crossing the border.
He claimed $72k out the door for the base model when I asked pricing for Canada. Not sure if he meant Canadian or US dollars though.
