Vredestein Quatrac Pro
« on: November 26, 2019, 08:31:50 pm »
Just ordered a set of these for IQs Audi. They won the tire comparo at TireRack and they seemed extremely impressed with them.  They also finished 2nd in a more comprehensive AutoBild tire comparo which used a summer and winter "control" tire for comparison.  As a bonus, these are supposed to be true all season tires with the Three Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol on them.  They will be used year round.  Literally the first time I've not had X-Ice on a recent car we've owned, so I'm extremely interested to see how they perform.

These should easily be leaps and bounds better than what's on her car now.

I ordered from Quattro tires.  With the black friday sale, they came in at $800 all in delivered.

Will keep everyone posted on our impressions.

They've been making snow tires forever.  Should be good.

Also, shootout winning summer tire from them was the favorite tire I've ever owned...the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta.  In 315 width, they could put the power down like nobodies business.  The Z06 guys went bananas for them too.

Couldn't get them after the Supra.  Stopped selling them I think.   :'(

Looking forward to your thoughts as I know a couple of people here that are looking for some 4 season tires.

It’s a good looking tire, too, if that kind of thing matters to you.

What's the reason for going with an AW tire on the Audi?  Will it be used sparingly in the winter?

To me it seems odd to sacrifice summer performance (it is a grand touring tire after all) on a sports car to gain winter traction, but I'm sure you have good reasons.

the picture shows tread pattern that's extremely like typical winter tires.  they are probably winter tires reclassified as "all season" so they can sell them all year like nokian tires.

That’s their shtick: https://www.vredestein.com/about-vredestein/technology-based-on-design-this-is-vredestein/?cate=pV

Yeah, performance supposedly comes first, but I’m still not sold on the idea.

It will certainly be enough tire sport-y wise for the day to day street use.

Personally, I find her TT more GT than absolute sports car.

Tires had to be ordered, not in stock.

10 day delay.

Tires FINALLY came in today.

When I was talking with them, they said that I was the only one who had ordered these tires thus far?  Hard to believe that we'll be one of the few, if any, running these new tires.
