Thanks. I hope so too. She has an appointment tomorrow so they'll get her checked out. She's been dealing with neck pain, headaches, ringing in the ears. No airbags or apparent intrusion into the cabin but she was closest to the impact point and I can't imagine how scary it may have been. That truck continued going into our lane after making impact and thankfully didn't turn out worse.

Best case scenario they fix the car so I don't have to deal with fighting for total loss payout but initial repair costs are already near that total loss threshold. I fear they're going to look at comparable value for automatics which is easily 25% less than the manual versions.

I paid $10,800 plus GST = $11,340, transportation costs, PPI and OOPI ($350). There's a couple of manual 5 GTs available in Calgary, but I got a BC vehicle specifically for minimal rust.

Sorry to see this, hopefully everyone recovers quickly. Is insurance offering a buy out? From the photo that damage looks purely cosmetic; bumper cover, fender, door and maybe a headlamp, definitely enough to write it off when you factor for bodyshop/paint costs and all that. However, if it were me, and I liked the car, I'd buy it back from insurance, grab some junkyard parts and have it rolling again on the cheap....Probably put a good bit of cash in your pocket doing that too.

I think both doors and the quarter panel are pretty damaged. I have to think that sliding door will make it a pain to repair.

Sorry to hear that man, hope your partner recovers quickly. You know, for taking a starboard ram from a dump truck, your little Mazda took it pretty well.
Lighten up Francis.....

No damage on the rear quarter, some on the sliding door. most of the damage on the front fender and bumper and who knows what structural intrusion may have been. I did hop up onto the median to prevent intrusion into the cabin, I don't think any passenger vehicle is going to win a battle against a dump truck.

I don't know if I'm super interested in Frankensteining a family vehicle back together.

Just a front bumper cap with paint is $2k these days, so the tab will go up very fast. The Calgary one looks like a pretty clean unicorn, vs the rusty base model that's local to me (and quite far from you).
