I carry one of those kits on my motorcycle, I don't know why it never occurred to me to carry it in my car. Seems so obvious. The problem with the fix-a-flat goo is that it can ruin your tpms sensors, and I heard it leaves a mess inside your tire making it impossible for tire shops to plug it. With these plugs, the tire shop can just remove it and put a permanent plug in. But I wonder if you can plug a rear tire with this without taking it off the car, might be hard to get at the hole especially on a low car.

Had a flat on the way out to the cottage a few years ago, 15km into the 42km of gravel road. An arrow head sized rock had punctured the tire and I'm doubtful the goo and compressor solution would've done anything. Tow truck is 2+ hours away with wife and young kids... I'll take a real spare everyday of the week and twice on Sunday thank you very much.

I’m often on logging roads and on highways where the next town is 150km or more away.

Full size spare only, thanks.

We had a convoy of suvs and trucks on some “roads” in the Height of the Rockies in the Purcells and several of the vehicles had tire issues. I was so glad to have my AT tires, and no problems.

Can’t imagine what the price would have been to have a tow truck sent into there.

People with full size tires, do you buy a set of 5 tires and rotate 5 ways?

No
Your spare usually do not have the same rim

Must remember to lower spare ( if it still works) and check pressure

On the Jeep and the mitsu I have 5 matching rims and tires so I rotate all 5 into the mix.
Lighten up Francis.....

You could just carry one of your winter wheels instead of a spare, if you run a separate set of wheels in the winter.
