Yes, that is open to interpretation. I bet the parking control guys can't figure that one out either. Where is that sign located? Public property or private?

That sign is super easy to read. Try parking on some streets in Montreal.

^ I find montreal signs quite straightforward actually.

This sign example is somewhat odd for sure.

The signs are in French?  :P

That is how I understand it.

Oh and those Montreal signs that Quad posted?  Yeah, that's a thing here.  It can get complicated when the signs with arrows (which indicate a length of curb) are angled incorrectly.  I got a parking ticket many years ago because of that.  I should have contested but didn't have the time or inclination to fight it.

I designed the sign above my car in this photo, and it's now a national standard. I am NOT responsible for other Montreal parking signs  ;D

The problem is why the word EXEMPT is inserted between Jul& and Mon Fri. If the exact meaning is answer B, why does not the word EXEMPT apprear just after 8:30am-4:30pm?

Yeah, it's a bad sign. The real issue is the Mon - Fri, IMO. I think they just ran out space, so stuffed it in the only place they had room - on either side of that bolt at the bottom.

I would assume that the sign is meant to read:

No Parking
8:30 - 4:30
Mon - Fri
July & Aug Exempt

If the parking signal aims to prohibit parking between 8:30am and 4:30pm during July and August while Monday and Friday are exempted, how does the parking signal look like?

No Parking
8:30 - 4:30
July & Aug
Mon - Fri Exempt

But I have no idea why they’d want to do that. 8:30 - 4:30 are generally business hours (or school hours.) Same with Mon-Fri, so it’s mostly common sense that those would go together.

Sounds like someone got a parking ticket & is pissed about it. ;)

They need room for school buses? Deliveries?

We’re on to another interpretation of the sign now: he asked about one that excludes Mon-Fri. ;) Thinking about it some more, probably easier just to put Sat & Sun in that case.

I did not know that.
