I learned something new today
« on: December 16, 2018, 12:08:37 pm »
I was reading the Globe and Mail today.  I was reading the Friday issue that has Globe Drive in it.  There was a story in there about how some provinces require some trucks and SUVs to have mudflaps.  The story focuses on Alberta where the law requires that the fender or mudflap extend to at least the centreline of the axle.  Apparently people are getting fined for this.

I had no idea that this law existed in some places.  It makes sense though considering that a vehicle like Jeep Wrangler could throw rocks back and take out a few windshields.

Here's a link to the story: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/drive/culture/article-minus-mud-flaps-your-jeep-may-be-subject-to-a-fine/

Yeah lots of rocks on the roads here.  Windshield shops are good businesses.  Insurance company also void windshield coverage.

Living in the land of gravel pits (Cambridge Ont) I cringe every time I see a dump truck in either direction.
