This was a pretty good car for what it was, especially compared to the pile of crap that was the other cheapest car at the time, the Mitsubishi Mirage.

The only problem is that on the used market, they don't seem to be depreciating all that much.

A 2016 with 56 000kms is $10 995.    https://www.autotrader.ca/a/nissan/micra/winnipeg/manitoba/5_40529007_20180709160204398/?showcpo=ShowCpo&ncse=no&orup=16_2_17&pc=R2K%203Z3&sprx=100

For an extra G-Bill, you could get a Ford Focus with 67 000kms.  And the Focus is so much more car.

How about a Mazda 3 with similar kms to the Focus?

The Micra would be a great used buy if it was $6-7k, but at $10k for a used model, I think better deals for better cars could be found.

these things are gutless little city cars, cheap runabouts that yes are better than a Mirage. But so is walking.

friend has one in Oz, and we literally were concerned about crossing traffic with the AC on and 3 of us in the car. With the auto, it didn't want to move at all.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

If it was cheaper than it is, I would recommend it as a great used buy for a university student who wants a reliable little runabout, or a little old lady who just wants a car to carry her groceries home, and to bring her to bingo.  But, seeing as for the money, you could buy a compact with similar kms, it's hard to recommend.

I do have a soft spot for simple cheap cars like Micra, and it's cool Nissan sells it in Canada. I bet repairs and parts are cheap as well, so as an urban or suburban runabout, it's great. And it'll fit into any parking spot, and you won't have heartache when it gets scratched up or someone puts a door ding.

That said, like you guys said, the depreciation, or lack thereof, makes a used one a bit of a harder sell versus just buying new. Not only has the car only lost just 3k of its value, but upcoming maintenance eats up a chunk of that savings.

I test drove one of these and it's a great car for the dough if you don't load up with high trim levels. And yes, should be $6K car used.
