A lovely Sunday ride. Tempatures were 10-20C with very little wind. Perfect. Distance is not accurate is it misses about 50 kms at the end. There were a few other small detours as well. But rough idea.
Starting off with a fill up in near by Fort MacLeod. My riding partner was also riding a Suzuki but his a just a tad bigger ...
The first real stop is at a river stop along a secondary road.
My little one cylinder running well.
Next we came across some classic cars in Cowley.
A 1950 Dodge DeLuxe fastback and 1958 Chevrolet Biscayne. The Dodge is a Canadian market example.
1958 Chevrolet Biscayne sedan
Lundbreck Falls at the foot of the Rocky Mountains
Lots of water this time of year
Turtle mountain - Over 82 million tonnes of rock came off this mountain in 1903 burying the town of Frank.
A light bit of off roading led us to an abandoned mining building.
We picked up for food at a local grocery store for lunch.
Coke ovens once used in coal mining.
My riding partner had a trailer near by so we stopped
The hamburger was better than the photo displays we made from fresh buns, cheese and never frozen 1/2lb patties.
A little dusty after some gravel roads
Out of the mountains a bit to the hamlet of Twin Butte. Restaurant and general store.
The restaurant and general store of Twin Butte, Alberta is a popular stop for folks on motorcycles.
BMW K1300, Harley Davidson (I think), Suzuki, Suzuki TU250X
Stopped for a refreshment
Mustang meeting of some kind? They left before I could find out.
On the move again. South towards Waterton. There is buffalo down in the valley although they are rare to actually see.
At the gate to Waterton National Park
Other bikes coming through
Prince of Wales Hotel located in the Waterton Lakes National Park on a hill over looking the town site. Built in 1926/1927.
The town site is visible below. An eagle can also be seen near the center of the photo.
Another shot of the hotel.
I lost one of the handle bar weights early in the ride. Ugh.
Down in the town site. A little snow still.
Cameron Falls
Some folks throwing snowballs with some left over snow.
More motorbikes
Managed to grab a bite to eat in Cardston, Alberta. It is a mostly Mormon town so not much open on a Sunday. We had about just over an hour to ride back through prairie.
