I was surprised how high the 3rd row seats are from the floor.  I guess that's what happens when you don't have AWD.
I used to see these things everywhere back then and now I don't remember the last time I saw one on the road.
There aren't that many on auto trader, either.

I don't think I've seen more on the roads than I can count on one hand. What the hell was wrong with these that they didn't sell?!?!?! No awd, gutless?!?!?
Lighten up Francis.....

Both, plus the looks, I suspect.

I blame this:

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

CUVs were starting their take down - so these were DOA

It looked and felt like a cramped mini minivan... It was expensive relative to the Cruze with not a ton of trunk space.  If you didn't need the third row, it just wasn't compelling compared to other similar GM products, nor the updated Rondo/Mazda 5.

the reason why it didn't sell well is simple...for many people, this vehicle made sense...decent amount of space, reasonably priced, readily available (GM dealers are everywhere)...no AWD, not a SUV/CUV, no Turbo/V6 engine and no fancy logo on the hood kept it out of the USA and many driveways here...if this vehicle was offered in 1985, it would be in 90% of people's driveways.
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

CUVs are killing small MPVs worldwide. Mazda has no plans to redesign the 5/Premacy. The Rondo is not selling well either, although my coworker loves hers.

I think the lack of awd and a decent engine is what prevented sales. I mean MPVs are great and all, but so is selling people a lifestyle they do not have....

The seats were better than what's in the Mazda 5 and Kia Rondo, but it's still relegated to kid and shorter people duty. I was sitting on my tailbone.

I see a few in Kelowna. One of them is a Yellow Cab taxi that's everywhere.

I was interested in this as the only 7 passenger vehicle with a manual transmission out there, but nothing compelled me to buy it during my test drive. The seats were uncomfortable for me, handling not as good as the Mazda 5, and the interior a little cheap.

I was talking about the Orlando.

I test drove the Rondo too, way nicer vehicle, but the manual transmission was only in the 5 passenger configuration. Base model too but the base model is really nicely optioned.

Unless when I said "only 7 passenger vehicle with a manual transmission out there", that was wrong because the Rondo could also be optioned with a 7 passenger configuration and manual transmission?

ahh...i've never been in an Orlando, so i can't really comment on that...they aren't very common around here either (i've only seen a handful over the years).

i'm not sure about before, but currently, Rondos are only available with automatics (at least in Canada).

Oh that sucks. Dammit, I could've been one of 7 owners of a manual transmission Rondo LX L.
