Very good looking commute car and a really good deal with Ontario rebates factored in.
Worth a long look once the Forester lease is up.

Hyundai does not offer it for lease, just regular financing. This says a lot of Hyundai expectations on how this car will retain is value over time..  :P

They don't need to sell too many nor do they plan to. Even before its release H announced the next gen Ionic with a much bigger battery. This one is just to diversify the brand. The hybrid on the other hand seems like a well engineered car.

I stopped by the Hyundai dealer to have a look and did a quick road test. Nice looking car inside and out. Drives well, very quiet, no aerodynamic noise whatsoever up to 120 kph. Some tire noise intrude in the cabin however. This may have been noticeable because I did not turn on the radio and with no other noise source all I could hear were the tires. Very nice regen system with 4 levels, from 0 regen to full, which will allow 1 pedal driving and bring you almost to a full stop. Handling seems ok, steering is light and the car quite responsive to steering inputs. Cargo and interior space is quite good for a car this size, very similar to the current gen Elantra.

Heated seats and steering wheel are nice. You can set the climate system to heat or cool the driver only and it has a heat pump to use less battery power.

The range indicated 170 km with the battery at 85% when we left the dealership, so the 200 km range announced seem spot on. With a CX of .24 this car range seem far less affected by the speed than the Leaf. I did 20 km, half of it on highway at 100-120 kph and after 20 km the indicated range was 150. :)

I see that as a great commuter car.

I guess so, for most of potential users.

Just picked one up today.  Full battery at 192km.  Froze on the way home, heat didn't seem to work well, but heated seats did.

Comparison between bolt coming.

yep, almost everyone should have one of these or similar as a commuter car, and then the fun one can focus on the handling, noise, power, etc.

Now to just get them cheap enough so we all can afford to have a commuter and a play toy as well...

It was 6C and raining during my test drive. The car was parked outside and stone cold when we got in. No problem with the heat, it warmed up very quickly. I did not turn on the seat heater, just the steering wheel heater.

Guy, maybe it was cranked up?   I don't know I set it for 22 then 23 never felt heat come out.

Sometimes the auto systems need to be higher, I'll try 25 today.

Heated seats will burn you on setting 1 not sure why it needs 3 lol
