Hitch for bicycles rack for the Volt ...
« on: April 24, 2017, 11:06:10 pm »
I'm actually shopping a hitch for my 2013 Volt to put on a (2) bicycles capacity rack. Not electric ones  ;D

The tongue capacity for 2" (200Lbs) versus 1.25" (100Lbs ?)
Any experience to share with those bicycles rack mounted on hitch?

Thank you
________

For illustration purpose, bolt-on hitch installation - no drilling required

In the past couple of years I've bought two hitches from Hitchweb (a Canadian company).
If you have some mechanical skill you can mount these yourself.  If not almost any garage can do the work.  It's a straightforward install, especially if you're not getting a wiring harness installed too.
I installed both hitches myself and since my hitches are only used for supporting my bike rack I didn't need a wiring kit.  The hardest part of my install was taking off the rear fascia and lights on my BMW 128i vert.

Here's a link to a hitch that will fit your 2013 Volt:

Thanks for the suggestion, their pricing looks good but I would prefer a non-drilled installation hitch if possible but I'm afraid to run out of option here... Still undecided.

Where does it say that you have to drill anything?  I've installed two of their hitches (granted, on different cars), and didn't have to drill anything.  They're strickly a bolt-on hitch.

Same here.  Drilling seems a bit silly - I sure wouldn't do that, either.
