The students working summer jobs at NBPower (New Brunswick Electric Power Commission in those days) used to get vehicles which were heading to the government auction at the end of the summer, so they were on their last legs.
One summer, I had an early 1980s Chevrolet C10 with the 350 and three on the tree. The clutch was so stiff that the seatback on the driver's side was visibly pushed back. You couldn't rush the shift because it would bind between gears and you'd have to pop the hood and jiggle the rods until it popped into gear or neutral.
Really close to this one, but long bed and pretty marked up.
