Isn't the selection of 'cheap' RWD sport/sporty cars very limited?

FRS/BRZ
Miata
Mustang
Genesis

And don't they all start around 30K?

Yup - it's not a big segment, but some interesting choices depending on what you want.

They are overpriced as is...wondering how much more a turbo boost would cost.

A RWD, two seat, perfectly balanced 200 hp car for under $30K is overpriced?
200hp with 0 torque.  No thanks.  Not to mention you have to rev the :censor: out of it to get the 200hp.  Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the 1.5T Civic is faster than the FRS/BRZ.  If it was about 250hp and 250lbft, then it would be good.

But then it would be $40K.
How is Nissan doing a base 370Z for $30k?

Trying to get rid of old stock before the new one shows up.  This model is a stripper, however and prior to this year was $40K.

The twins handle better FWIW.  Weight is thy enemy with a sports car.

(He preferred the FRS)
So, the stripper model was available in the US since introduction.  What's the price of a base FRS?  I bet feature wise it's pretty comparable.

I'm sure that it is a great handler and a bit of a hoot, but I wouldn't touch one without it having a bit more oomph.  When I am passing them on a road course (and one that is more setup for cars that can handle versus outright power) with an older 350Z, that tells me that it needs a bit more oomph.  And for the record, they were not on factory tires but R-Comps, as was I.

Another question...How is Ford doing a base Mustang for $25,800 and a V8 for $37k?

Volume.  The Mustang sells well, Ford can trim margins on it.  The BRZ/etc are victims of their own narrow focus.  The Mustang has broader appeal and about the best name recognition of any car, period.

Well your car is a beast so no fair   ;D
Not my car.  I have a 300ZX.  I have tracked 350Z at the local road course.

That IS a short list. I'd have to go with a Mustang or Genesis due to the lack of interior space from the first two.
The Mustang looks pretty damn nice on the road these days..
