"Today’s news also includes the latest Targa model, offered in Canada in Carrera 4 and 4S trims only."

A bit redundant as it's offered that way everywhere.

This: "Porsche really has moved to fuel-saving turbo power for its 911"

Is there really a significant fuel savings here and do most Porsche owners really care. I know done to appease CAFE rules and the like, but doubt much saving in real world.

You can get around the Turbos in the testing. But in real life, if you're on boost, you're going to drink more fuel.

Which is why I am glad they didn't downsize the engine like crazy to a 2.0 or 2.5L.  I bet this 3.0L will still have good oomph off boost, requiring you to be less in boost when driving around town.

I think Ford made this mistake by downsizing from a 3.0L or 3.5L V6 to a 2.0L Turbo in the Escape & Fusion.  If it was me, I would have done a 2.5L turbo to replace the 3.0L V6 and use the 2.7L TT V6 to replace the 3.5L V6.

Oh, yeah.  My turbo drank like a V-8 and then some when using boost.  Nurse it around driving like granny going to church and you can see pretty decent mileage, but pressurize the air and it just drags more fuel in as well.

It might.  Modern turbo engines have much higher compression than way back when - so it's not like someone stole the engine when you're not in boost.

Well, not just compression but better breathing and cylinder head design.

Part of the reason I increased compression on my build was the off boost response.  Especially at elevation.

Indeed.  My 911 off boost was ridiculous.
