I wonder how many GM dealers will actually carry this model?  Also, the Spark EV might not simply be a placeholder for the upcoming Bolt.  If the technology (read battery costs) are low enough to sell the 300+ km Bolt for under $40k, then that same technology should allow the Spark to be sold for under $28k, which in some provinces put the cost of ownership in the low $20k range.  Maybe lower if GM pulls it typical occasional massive discount routine.

Juicy!

Cheers,
John M.

We're not there yet. $33,000 for a small, limited range, short supply EV with discounts only available if you live in a preferred area of Canada. Probably won't be much of a line-up for this thing. The Bolt, however, just may change things radically.

This needs to be $20K out the door before EVs get wide appeal.  But, they're getting there.

Is the Bolt supposed to get this drivetrain, or could the Spark be the 'enthusiast' choice while the Bolt is the more comfort-driven?

Did I see specs showing less than 400 km range and hours of charging for a well-above average price... gnaam.. mmm... going back to sleep... oh and winter is coming... range will likely drop to well below 100km... might as well go hibernate...

Good writing, few quirks but well balanced article.

"Still, no nation-wide publicly funded charging infrastructure or plug-in purchase incentives exist in Canada, at least not yet, unlike most if not all other G8 and possibly G20 countries nowadays."

Maybe not nation wide yet but there are huge efforts done here to build a decent DCFC & L2 network http://www.autos.ca/forum/index.php?topic=87503.msg1126863#msg1126863
