Yeah, the nomenclature has to change.

This is like the base Macan S and the Macan Turbo.  In differentiating the names thusly, it suggests that the base engine is not Turbo'd (it is), and that the top o' the line one is (it is as well).  I think this is where it needed to be "Macan" and "Macan S", with the "S" designating the more powerful variant.

I think it inevitable and welcome the change for higher-efficiency, but I do not welcome maintaining nomenclature that is misleading (kinda like calling a 2.0T the '28i', or '300'.

It's like FIL's 'new' 2001 911 Turbo.  "whoah, you have a Porsche Turbo?!?!"  "Yeah!  I love it!"  "So what turbo does it have?  Is it the base engine?"

Yeah, I'm not even a Porsche purist and it pisses me off.

The nameplate is more historical than anything else. "Porsche Turbo" conjures up images of very fast, very expensive Porsches. It makes sense to continue using that nomenclature.

While it's not the most logical naming convention I don't think it's anything we need to get our panties into a twist over.

Note to self: do NOT look for internet memes consisting of "panties in a twist" while at work.  I am very much regretting that choice.

Fack. a 997 is probably the newest 911 I would ever buy. Porsche is facked now.

A turbo for you, a turbo for you, and a turbo for you ... A turbo for everybody!
I love it when a plan comes together.
