Yeah, Johnny, you've clearly never really driven a convertible around. I wholeheartedly disagree with your statement (respectfully, of course).
See my 2015 BMW Z4 review:
http://www.autos.ca/forum/index.php?topic=92177.msg1086186#msg1086186You can also use the key fob to operate the roof.
See, this the Z4 could not do. Mayhaps it's because I was in a 'base' model, but we could only operate da roof, da roof, da roof via centre-stack buttons.
Closing the driver's door generated a clunking noise and a vibration that could be felt through the car.
The Z4 did not suffer from what you are describing.
"they’ll quiver and shake like a hooker in church" I don't get these small cabs with a useless back seat. Why not just but a proper convertible...a roadster.
I was going to touch on this, as well.
When comparing the 228i cab and the Z4 sDrive28i, the question becomes whether you want back seats or not; however, now that the 228i is available with xDrive, it's a whole different story - it's no longer a summer's toy.
I'm not sure which way I'd go...the visual appeal of the Z4 is a little better than that of the 2-series (objectively; you'll get more cat-calls in a roadster than you would in a car that was operated on by this guy:
