Well, if it was ever on my radar, it is now off of it.  Do people really believe in "more speeds = better" ???

Yes they do as more is always better. Just like more watts is better. How else could they sell those HTIB with 1000 watts.  :rofl2:

More is more,
Less is less.
Less is bad,
More is better.
Except when it's too much,
Then, it's just right.

Little surprised they didn't wait a year or two to add the 9-speed to the MDX.  MY2014 was the redesigned 3rd gen, and for MY2016 they add the 9-speed, and all the extra "stuff".  If I were in the market for an SUV, a used 2014/2015 would be on my radar.

Now if they can only get rid of that parrot beak front end. Nine speeds auto's aren't getting good reviews lately. I'm with eight is great !

Yes, ZF's 9-speed has been garnering negative reviews, while their 8-speed is praised.

Now, that 8-speed has been out for some time, so one would expect tall the bugs to be worked out. I wonder, is there something fundamentally wrong with the 9-speed, or is it simply teething issues? Hopefully it isn't the former, as this gearbox is finding its way into lots of cars...
