I can confidently say that this rumour mill would be better-suited to the "salt truck" guise.

Quote
the 2.0L engine producing approximately 320 hp
Just like the JDM Legacy Wagon/Forester got the 2.0T at 296hp, when it came to our shores, the power ratings were dropped for the varying fuel quality here.  Japan apparently likes good, clean, high-octane fuel.  'Murica is a little sh!ttier in that regard.

If we're lucky, it'll come close to the Golf R's power output, but I would put money down (like, $0.50!) that it would not exceed it.

As for Honda investing more in the CR-Z?  No chance.  It'll be a Civic spawn only.

With the Golf R and maybe the Focus R coming to NA, Honda ought to do something to attempt to regain former glory as a drivers car maker.

Or just continue the attempt to morph into Toyota. No disrespect Toyota.

Yeah, what's the point.  I think the sun has a better chance of rising in the west than this rumour.

Like the article says we are not getting the Civic Type R that's going to be sold in overseas markets.  Our civics are sedans and the new Si will likely have a 1.5L turbo making around 220hp.  The trim above it will have the bigger turbo engine and make around 300 hp.  These will come in 2017 as 2016 models.

Your argument is invalid. And yes, I've driven one.

While Im sure they are great fun, its still not as fun as if the power was channeled to the rear or all the wheels. The Focus ST I drove had to rely heavily on its nannies to stop any front end shenanigans.

The US could charge George Tenet and Porter Goss with war crimes.

The Maple Leafs could win the Stanley Cup.

Peace could break out between the Israelis and Palestinians.

Kim Kardashian could display some form of talent.

Kayne could stop being a douche.

Harper could become caring and compassionate.

...but I rather doubt it.  ;D

Seems to me that Nissan seems to be playing this role more so than Honda...  And doing a poor job of it in the quality / reliability department.  They seem more French than Japanese to me...  Must be that Renault influence.

If Honda wants to install a Euro engine in a North American Car then I suggest they start with their
Earth Dreams 1.6 Diesel which would suit the Civic, Fit and the new HRV.

If Honda wants to wrap a Euro body around a North American engine then I suggest they stick the 1.8
in the Civic Tourer and sell it over here.
