Sad to see the V6 diesel disappear...  I thought they would consider offering it as a higher model diesel.  :'(

I'm correcting it. I just heard all models will be available in 4Matic.
If it shifts, it drifts.

Presumably 4Matic will be standard in Canada. I believe in the U.S. it's an option on the lower end models.

Offering both the 350 and 400 is kind of weird though. Mercedes has been all over the map in terms of which cars the 400 replaces the 350 or 550.

This is the first Benz of this new generation that looks great with their new design language.  However, from a features / price benefit standpoint it looks like the new XC90 will walk all over it.

Meh. Probably will be a hit.

Anybody catch that there will be 2 Mercedes GLEs now? This one (the new ML) and the horrible GLE Coupe which is really a CUV designed in the spirit if the Honda Crosstour.

It's a little ass-heavy for me...

However, that interior is fricken gorgeous (minus the useless and button-happy-looking dialpad).  In person especially, the use of the wood is incredible.

Still very much dislike the new nomenclature, and I think the engine offerings are a little odd (mirroring the thought on the loss of the V6 Diesel).

The GLE400 4Matic rocks a twin-turbo 3.0L V6 tuned to make 329 hp and 354 lb-ft,
Those numbers off a twin-turbo just isn't so incredible.  Sounds very de-tuned to me.

With that being said; I think the base 300d (2.1L diesel) will be a !great! 'entry' motor, and this is fricken exciting:

the GLE550e 4Matic adds a plug-in hybrid adding up to a total output of 436 hp and 479 lb-ft.

This design likely won't steal any sales from the RX, but will likely eat into X5 and Cayenne sales.

Has the RX moved downmarket to be with the Murano?

I don't think the RX has moved downmarket as much as the ML has moved upmarket. It seems to me that the RX's mission hasn't changed much since the original '98 model. Price increases have been relatively incremental.

It was meant to be a rhetoric, and more particularly, the "red queen" syndrome.

Lexus has rested on its laurels a little too much, me thinks.  Sales will continue to be great, but there's a lot of room for improvement (specifically in the mechanical department).
