Really love the idea behind the BlueMotion Passat, and it looks quite production-ready. 150hp is enough for the average driver and this car should follow traffic just fine. Mazda had it right for a year with the 2.0 in the CX-5, and then quickly relegated the small mill to the base fwd version. Should have kept the engine option accross the range - it felt fine for me in a test of a CX-5 GT in 2012.
Hopefully, VW will have BlueMotion versions of the Golf and Jetta, too. For city drivers, the TDI can't touch hybrid mileage, but the simple approach they have here will work, and probably at a great price too.
