No doubt the Camaro is a beast.  Huge power, superb chassis, and an unfortunate cartoonish exterior that's too large.  Shrink the car, update the looks, and offer the great engineering that's gone into it, and you have, um, I guess, a Corvette!   ;D

4/5 on Performance.

Mid 12 second quarter mile time, under 4.5 seconds to 60mph, 0.97g on a 300 diameter skidpad, braking from 70 mph in 150 feet.

It may not quite be the beast the coupe is but the above performance should probably get it a 5/5.

Otherwise, what is the point?

Performance isn't just measured by these metrics.  How is it on a road course?

Awesome

Compared to?

A 1993 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo.

Cheers!  Well played.  I certainly hope it is as it has over 20 years of advancement on chassis technology.  I know that many of the car magazines in 1990 rated the 300ZX higher than the Corvette of the same year on track performance.

I would like to see some metrics such as how is compares to the ZL1 coupe, SS coupe & convertible, Mustang GT coupe & convertible, etc.

Just stating it is awesome without back-to-back comparison or test trials on a track is not enough.

Ugh, I have driven the ZL1 back-to-back with the GT500 on the track. It is awesome compared to the GT500.

Sorry to have asked a question.  But thanks for your answer nonetheless.  And for everyone else that posted links, thanks!  That's some very interesting information.

Too bad that I can't stand the Camaro package.  Big, bulky, heavy, small windows.  But, so is the Mustang.

Agreed.  I'd put money down for the Vette over a ZL1.

ZL1 is far too heavy. I really want to test the 1LE as I hear it is great on the track and much lighter...but the rest of the issues you pointed out are still there.

The Camaro, historically, has not been classified as a muscle car. It's a pony car and they have long been used in road racing. FFS Autoblog.  :bang:
