Anyone live near Cambridge Ont?
« on: October 07, 2013, 08:39:34 pm »
As the title says does anyone live nearby who can go look at this 89 MR2?

One of the few 80's cars that I find appealing. Looks to be clean...

Let me know,

Wow. I wanted one of those so bad, back in the day. That looks to be a really nice example, and for only six grand... just do it!!!  If you don't, I might... :stick:

Sorry I can't help, but it looks quite clean and original.  I had a normally aspirated 86 which I loved, and tried to find a used 89 SC in the early 90s, but they were quite rare back then (at least here in Ottawa).
Don't fight it.  The sooner you get it the better.

There are some peeps here who live near Kitchener/Waterloo.  Cambridge isn't very far from there.

Nice! But the age of the car and the leather seat condition make me doubt it can be under 100k km  :-\

I drove one with a 20 valve JDM engine - piles of fun. Check for rear wheel arch rust - Toyota put some foam in the fenders that traps moisture in there.

I was worried someone might scoop it if I mentioned it...What scares me it is an Ontario car with no rust? Hmmmmm. All those stories we hear out west about Ontario?  I may have to have a service look it over. Problem is I am a little ways away to check it myself. The leather seat doesn't scare me. A seat cover and all is good. I had some seat time in one around 1989 or so. Don't recall the fit but I thought it was ok. Think 6'2" would fit?

If a regular gave it the thumbs up I would probably just pull the trigger. Hell I have spent more on a used dirtbike...

I wonder if I can drive a MR2 across the country before the bad stuff hits...

a car that old from Ontario with no rust is very rare.
wonder what the story is behind that.   Is it strange that after two owners the original bill of sale is available????

well, if the car was stored during winter, it is quite possible, and highly probably that it is rust free even if from Ont.

if the thing is 89 and still has under 100k, that's highly likely it wasn't used year-round.

KTM, if you were going to drive it back, you should go grab it soon,(like before mid nov!) i hear the rockies are getting snows now.  won't be long before we get some!!!  ;D   oh and please give me a ride in MR2 if you get it!

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

If you buy it then fly me out and I'll drive it back   ;D

I could definitely see the claimed condition if it were never winter driven.

Nevermind the Rockies, Northern Ontario has potential for snow anytime!!!!

There's a small chance I may be able to check it out for you.  I will be going to Waterloo on Friday to pick up my son and may have time to pass through Cambridge, depending on my wife's plans.  I'll take more pics and video.  If you have an iPhone or Mac, I can FaceTime you during the test drive.  Let me know if you're interested.

That would be great if you could fit it in. Face time not necessary. I am interested in body condition (ie. rust) and mechanical.

A quick drive should determine if this thing is the real deal. As I recall it was a hoot so remember to enjoy the drive. If I don't pick this up then somebody here should..

I am busy trying to find a winter home for the 1800 so I can make some spac.

Bad news - I was planning on going to see it today, clicked on the link and see it's been sold.  Bummer, I was looking forward to the test drive  :(
