The Alltrack Passat is cool, especially with the 170HP TDi.
Lighten up Francis.....

Well no....no wagon is the RS6, very few car match that car for sticking their hands down the front of your pants and appealing to the left brained thinking.....

I'm not sure what is the most awesome, bad-ass, yet thoroughly practical vehicle - E63 wagon (with the backwards facing rear-seat option, of course!), or the CTS-V wagon.  (I'm not going to consider an RS6 as it's not marketed here, but definitely fantastic too)

But back in the real world - while I'd love to have another reasonably-priced midsize wagon on the market, I can't imagine VW will offer another Passat wagon with the rumour of them building yet another CUV.

I love the CTS-V in many ways, but the E63 is definitely bigger inside.  Certainly a more practical choice.  The CTS is closer to 3 touring and A4 avant size.  At least in interior dimensions.

To the OP:  I would definitely consider an AWD Passat wagon if it were offered here.   Would almost certainly be the favorite to eventually replace our 5 wagon.

E63 if I win the lottery.

The CTS-V would be a cool family car.....

I like the Alltrack.

it's not too overdown like Audi's Allroad.

The Passat wagon was getting pretty darn big IMO.
now a days both the Passat and Jetta have grown quite a bit.

a Jetta wagon or Passat wagon - TDI with towing capability and not TOO big would very much peak my interest.   Wagons are far between than SUVs / CUVs.

FGCs still make me a little nervous though.

I do not think there is anyone that does not like the RS6 state but "too much cake for poor little me. so the short answer is nope." I would still prefer the Passat wagon :)

I like the alltrack as well about 3 months ago but since we have the outback already, I doubt it will be much better or much more attractive anymore...Still want the normal wagon...:)

yes the Outback is sadly not really a wagon anymore.

the only real option anymore which doesn't cost a mortgage (photos above!) is Volvo's XC70
perhaps the BMW 3 series wagon as well, but while not a mtg - it's still way more than I would pay.

Don't forget the V60 is coming next year although no pricing has been announced.

As to the OP, I'm past my large wagon stage (Mazda6 Wgn was my last one). Don't know how well a Passat wagon would sell but one thing, it should hold a lot of stuff.

Agreed!!! Outback is the only affordable wagon-ish option on market. We were looking for a used 2010 Passat but non of them had 4motion...

So the bottom line: we wont buy CUV, period; we wont buy SUV, too experience to run; We actually do not need the extra ground Clarence either but it comes free with outback...we needed a bigger car than my GTI... 4motion Passat wagon would be ideal.

We did go the volve dealership but wife does not like the look and feel; I do not like the fuel economy numbers...

Hope the new ones in 2017 or 2018 will fit for us...:)

Wish they could bring the new Mazda6 wagon (maybe even in diesel) over...
