SV M6 - it seems Canucks get a manual upgrade trim that the Americans won't have  :) - So we will have a 2.0 S replacement with the new gen Sentra.

Just checked Nissan's Sentra microsite - no packages will be made available for the manual SV, the sole option being stand-alone a/c.  Yup, air is now an option, and you can't get cruise control with the stick.

Glimpse of hope now extinguished.  No new Sentra for me when I'm done with the '08.  No cruise is a deal breaker.

It wasn't too long ago when we could buy fully loaded Altimas and Maximas with a manual. Problem is, pretty much no one bought them.

Hey I tried to help. I bought my ALtima in standard, too bad now you can only get them with a CVT.....that to me is worse than a slushbox.
Lighten up Francis.....

Au contraire, there is a trend right now in the compact market that sees an uprise in manual take rate.

GM was the first to increase the availability of the stick on the Cruze trims, then Ford added the stick to the Titanium Focus.  Nissan now joins Kia / Hyundai in turning its back to the enthusiast crowd.  Speaking of, Hyundai quietly cancelled the manual Sonata for 2013, and Kia dropped the manual Soul 4U (the 2U is still shiftable, but upper trims are slushie-only).

1.8L engine only, huh?  Looks like Nissan is going back to the B15 era with the new Sentra.  But with the weight loss, the lack of HP/TQ shouldn't be a deal-breaker for most folks.  It may be a little underpowered compared to the Focus/Mazda3/Cruze/Forte, but Honda, Toyota, and Hyundai still sell boat-loads of 1.8L compacts (literally in the case of Hyundai...)  And as AS will likely attest, I'm assuming Nissan will sell them based primarily on price/financing, not necessarily because they are best-in-class.  But with such fierce competition in the compact class, will that be enough anymore?

Any word on a potential Spec V version?  I'm thinking that 1.6L turbo from the Juke - along with its 6MT - would do wonders for the Sentra. Plus Nissan could rationalize the decision with something like "amortize powertrain development costs over multiple models", or some such jargon!

I meant, Nissan used to harsh cater to the enthusiast crowd, but not anymore.

Mazda, VW, and Ford are the last ones standing with a manual transmission midsize sedan.

Blueprint, try a Mazda 3, I love mine.
