I think the one big question is are we going to get a de-contented North American "mass market" version  a la the Jetta or a premium near luxury version with a high end interior and lots of techy features? There seems to be two Volkswagens right now. One builds the Jetta and the Passat while the other produces the CC and Touareg. Who will build this car?

Well I want a GTI built in Germany by Turkish Gastarbeiters.   In an ideal world I'd want a GDM one...it is not as if there is any difference in emissions and crash standards nowadays but there are undoubtedly goodies that won't be on the NA version either because of American regulations or marketing wanting a particular price range.

I take it these are not U.S. mpg: I got excited for a while there.  :o

UK gallons are bigger than US gallons:
1 UK Imperial Gallon = 4.55 litres
1 US Liquid Gallon = 3.79 litres

2) - UK mpg figures will be calculated using the EU's methods, the US mpg figures will be calculated using the EPS's methods.

Also use different cycles (Urban, Extra-Urban and Combined for the EU, City and Highway for the EPA) don't directly compare.

I doubt any of the engines in that article will appear here in the European form so the fuel consumption numbers are not useful.

I notice that the car is 28mm lower than the Mk VI.  That may not happen here either if it just tips over the permitted height range  for bumpers and headlights...although the aftermarket will provide those parts within seconds.

I don't see a difference.

I don't see a difference.
You could say that about the 911!

??? I don't understand why people are disappointed when a new model is released and styling does not change dramatically. The last thing I would want is to see the 911 design change dramatically, it is probable the most recognizable car on the planet.  Its just fine, don't fack with it.
