...not like a Pilot. Hooning by yourself is one thing, but having three others with you is a dumbass move.

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

I don't often play Monday morning crash investigator...but...I couldn't help but observe something rather notable in the overhead photos of the accident.

That plane went in dead flat. It's sitting in a cornfield and not one stalk of corn is bent around the crash site. It's like it dropped straight down and impacted flat. (flat spin?). It's sitting there with the wings snapped down...not an easy thing to do with the braced wings of a 172.

Flying with 4 people on board, full fuel and a warm evening - at those limits a C172 handles like a bowl of porridge.

How warm?  Maybe a density problem?  Temperature increases cause drastic performance declines, and with the plane at capacity, hhhmmm.  Wouldn't be the first pilot to make that error.

Judging by the debris, we might not ever know what happened.  What I do know is that it's horrible that four young people are dead.  Lots of vibes to their families.
