Modern Classics: Ford Focus SVT, 2002-2004
« on: December 02, 2010, 03:03:16 am »

The SVT Focus, tuned by Ford's Special Vehicle Team for improved handling and performance, "adds up to a pretty good bargain if one is looking to balance practicality with performance from a North American automotive manufacturer," says Jeff Burry.

Sweet little car. Probably would have done better with a little more balls under the hood, but it was astonishingly well balanced. Every once in a while, Ford turns one out this good.

Yea.  Neat car.  A local has a turbo or supercharged one and it runs very well indeed.  IRC, Saleen also got their hands on the Focus and turned out a neat little import fighter..

How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

A friend had a supercharged Contour SVT. Screaming fast little bomb, that was. Neat car actually. The first year Contour SE, and then the SVT were just really fun cars to drive. HAD to be a manual in the SE tho. THe automatic sapped all the fun out of it.

I had a V6 Contour SE with a 5 speed manual as a company car.  I wouldn't say it was really fun to drive though.

A guy at work bought a Saleen Focus last summer.    Oddly, instead of force-feeding it, Saleen installed a nitrous system, which is of course pretty much useless except for drag-racing.  Other than that, brakes, suspension and some tasteful body bits make for a nice little car, albeit wrong-wheel drive.
Still can't convince him to try any motorsports with it, but I'm persistent.

To provide the three-door model with still more “pop,” a new European Appearance package was available, which featured an upscale interior including leather-trimmed seating surfaces (front and rear) and matching leather door panel inserts. Dark Argent wheels now complimented two new “performance” colours – Screaming Yellow and Competition Orange.

The EAP was available on 3dr AND 5dr models (and also came with factory HID lights), but only in the USA so if you find one up here it has definately be imported.
