Sat in a Soul today.  Nice feel to the driver's side of things.  Didn't get a chance to test drive one as all the "open" models have been sold!  :o.

Besides, after I got my estimate on what is needed for my Sorento, I didn't much feel like test driving anything. ::) :(

OTOH, maybe it's time to start looking in earnest. :P ;D

Didn't the Venza get lambasted for having overly large wheels .I wonder what tires will cost for this economy car. I have 17's on the miata not fussy about them ,but that is what the car came with. I much prefer the 16 inch size  of the base model[MX5.]I guess it's nice to have choice.

Kids spend tons of money on rims and tires anyways. :P

I sat in a Soul 4U yesterday.  For what it is, and what Kia is asking for it, it seems like good funky value for the price.  Seems well put together and the interior is nicely sized...felt like a TARDIS actually.  I prefer the style of the Cube over the Soul.

I hope this is the start of the 'mini-boxes' coming to NAm.
Internal combustion thrust I trust

Took one for a test drive yesterday. For what it is, it's a nice practical, fairly frugal economy car... with more personality than a Fit, Yaris, Corolla, or Civic. If they market it right, I think it could be pretty popular.

Nothing exciting on the driving side, though, but I doubt most buyers will care (it's decent).

Didn't get a chance to test drive one as all the "open" models have been sold!  :o.

I was up at a Kia dealership in Brampton and was told I couldn't test drive one cuz everything on the lot was "sold" !!  For a car that's selling out everywhere, I have yet to see any on the road.

I'm curious if anyone has driven the 5spd ... I am quite impressed with this vehicle (comfort, style, value are all A+ in my books) ... but I'm a bit hesitant to go with a manual Kia ... reviews I've read vary greatly, from comments that it's a smooth, effortless shifting 5speed to a clunky, ropeadope shifter ... I'm obviously not expecting it to be an M3 or anything... but want to get a better idea of what I'd be in for...

It seems like Kia put a lot of work into the style/design of the vehicle, but I'm perplexed as to why, in this day'n age they'd use a 4speed auto & not toss in a 6th gear for the manual to set it apart even more from the competition.

Saw it up and close today, very nicely done.  I took time to examine such details as panel gaps, as good as anything else out there IMO.  The interior appears to have some hard stuff here and there, easy to maintain I would say, nice design.  If I was at the point of retiring(6 years to go), me and the wife would have only one vehicle and that would high on the list.  Ideal little city vehicle, grocery getter etc.  Well done Kia.

I like the look of the new Soul but simply love the look of the Nissan Cube. Has anyone driven one yet?

I drove the Soul 4U 'burner' yesterday and came away very impressed.  It felt very light on it's wheels and was pretty quick with 'go kart' like handling despite how tall it is.  Clutch action is nice and easy but the shifter is notchy and not very precise when you're driving it hard, found I couldn't get it to downshift from 3rd to 2nd on a couple occasions, 2nd just wouldn't engage until I put the shifter back into neutral position and tried again.

Absorbed bumps very well and there wasn't a lot of wind noise either, even on the highway.  The 4U has the 'sport' suspension and it did feel really tight, I don't remember having that 'boaty' feeling at all even when cornering fairly hard.

The engine is pretty loud on hard acceleration, which I expected, but overall I really liked this car.  Linear steering (felt Mazda-ish, very direct, nicely weighted) came at the expensive of some twitchiness on straight-aways but overall a pretty fun car to drive.  The red interior looks cheap in person, the seats are ok and the interior design looks pretty cool.

I drove a Mini before the Soul and the new 3 after it and the while the Soul is obviously a different class of vehicle, I didn't find that either the Mini or 3 severly outclassed it.

I'm surprised others have commented about problems finding one to drive, the salesguy said they have a bunch and they are not selling at all right now.

That may be true Y2 - I have yet to see one on the roads in the GTA - at a dealer yes, but nowhere else. I like the looks of it over the Cube and it is way cheaper than the Honda Element so I'm thinking it should sell pretty good..

Here is a head-to-head comparison of the Nissan Cube and the Kia Soul.  It's a bit bland, similar to the pulled punches of Motor Week's reviews but still somewhat informative nonetheless:

Style of 2009 Nissan Cube 1.8 SL is unmistakable.
I think it's a sexy and economic car. I hope to become increasingly a popular car because it deserves.
There is also a decent price, starting at under $ 17,000.
Even if there are many comments on the exterior of the car, I have a positive one. I see an interesting review on top speed.com

Welcome to the forum.  I hope you find it informative.  Just a side note, please do not change the title of threads.  It might make it hard to track afterwards.
