I just can't fathom how the WRX (265) is quicker than the STi...

There is no way.  STi doesn't weigh THAT much more than the WRX, right?

Also I think you need to dump the clutch at a high RPM (over 4000) in the WRX to get these numbers. I'm not sure if they did this in the STI because if they did turbo lag wouldn't be an issue (at least that is how I understand it).

The 09 WRX has 265hp @ 6000 RPM and 244 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm
----- The STI has 305hp @ 6000 RPM and 290 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm

Even with an extra shift in the 0-60 you would think that the STI should still be faster.
Someone lend me there STI so I can test out this theory.

In a world where the dead are returning to life, the word "trouble" loses much of its meaning.

The quintessential family Maytag Camry smoking the GTI is the real shocker.

:o OMG....I should have bought a Toyota instead! What was I thinking?

What? Did you get that GTi you were looking for? ;D

Ask me this again in a couple of days  ;)

In the Camaro fuel economy thread, there seems to be some thinking that the Camaro attaining the same economy as the "lowly" V-6 family sedans is a big deal.  How about the fact that the V-6 family sedans are nearly as quick?

You're forgetting about the FWD versus RWD distinction.  It's pretty sweet when a modestly-more-powerful RWD car bests a modestly-less-powerful FWD car in fuel economy.

Probably just as funny as a boring FWD V-6 family sedan blasting to 60 in under 6 seconds.  Drive wheels have no impact on fuel economy.
