Check out the latest episode (15x08) of Fifth Gear where Jason Plato drives the RS. He seems to like it, which should say something.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdAGKNogdAw&

It was an Exige RR.  There IS an Elise model that is slower, and that is still more fun than 99% of things on the road, many of which are faster 0-60.

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

Exige..sorry.  And sure it's still fun...but the quicker model is no doubt MORE amusing.

And the Elise is only amusing on the road where there are curves involved.  Sadly, there is a definite lack of curvy roads in flat pancake, boring Ontario.....:(  Ultimate track day car for sure though!!  Ever do AutoX with it by chance?

I don't know about you guys but I never do the 0-60 thing.  The GTI even has launch control just for that exercise.
I often accelerate hard from 40-80, 30-60 etc ( in mph)  but rarely bother to floor it below 20mph.   Just habit I guess.  So the Focus RS would suit me fine.

Exactly.    The GTI is quite lively when treated like that.   My BMW was as well. Its the take off from rest enveloped in the smell of hot tires and hot clutches that I don't bother with. Apart from anything else it attracts Fantinos

You didn't seem to mind flinging the Supra around in the rain/slush the last time you drove it!   ;D

Were we sideways after the first or second corner??   :rofl2:

Bob, North America is different and most of us grew up in the muscle car era where drag racing was a way of life. Nothing like going out to highway 614 on a Saturday night with a cooler of Blue and racing with your buddies on a spay paint ¼ mile. It may not be what you are accustomed to but this is what we are.

I like all forms of racing and prefer road courses but drag racing is in my blood.

Drag racing is the best form of racing there is in my mind as well. I really enjoy the power rush that you get from a good launch off of the line.  :)

::) ...and sadly, this is why rally racing will never be bigger than it is in North America.
Drag racing has its place, but simply having a heavily modified car and a quick reaction time does not make an all-round, skilled driver in my books.

No, but athletic ability is a prerequisite and to say one form of racing has better athletes is a tad pretentious.
