It's a Golf/Rabbit 5 door with a higher roof and more interior flexibility. Tiguan's interior is largely lifted from it. So super airy roomy interior in a compact package, but far more economical than Tiguan. Believe 4MOTION is available on some trims too (maybe on the CrossGolfPlus too, or that may be only FWD). Closest competitor I can think of would be the B-Class.

I was least fond of the old front end, so thinking the update will really appeal to me even more.

Interesting Ummm B-class. Yes I guess so. But really it is a niche motor. B/C it really doesn't have a rival. I know some would says the C-Max. But that is not really the case not even close. :)

Golf Plus is a Golf Plus, not a Fox which is significantly smaller. Fox is down 2 classes since it replaced the Lupo which is below the Polo - all sold in Europe alongside each other.
