Kenzie's Story of Crashing in Targa Newfoundland Rally
« on: September 19, 2008, 08:58:54 am »
This gave me chills.   :fall:

Kenzie's race comes to a crashing halt

JOE PACIONE FOR THE TORONTO STAR

When they took the tarp off his car after the crash to show him how badly it had been damaged, Jim Kenzie said he had tears in his eyes.

'At 160 km/h, you have a lot of momentum on your side'

Are you modding the Mod, AirB?   ;D

I figured this was more about the crash than the rally itself, but... if it bugs everyone enough, I'll move it.

Wow, just wow.  Glad they are OK.

At least he owned up to his error, unlike some who whine about speeding tickets.

i wonder if that mini will be rebuild and sold in BC.    :o

With a good fender and headlight plus intact windshield and front windows, just sell as is here   :rofl2:

Looks like a big shunt as James Hunt would have said.  (I've been on youtube a lot lately looking at old F1 footage thanks to that Patrese video!)

Mini will get full value for the lost car in the marketing of the "safety" of the little Mini...despite the fact this one seems to have had a full roll cage.

Maybe they'll sell more roll cages.

Kenzie's line 'At 160 km/h, you have a lot of momentum on your side' seems to play into his critics hands.  "Speed kills" they keep saying, and didn't Kenzie just about proved that with his little shunt?  I'm glad he and his co-driver are okay, maybe he should stick to road racing at Mosport.

Nope. I think it proves that even a small car ( admittedly helped by a roll cage)  can survive massive crashes and let the driver walk away. All the more reason to drive faster  ;D

Kenzie proved that is not easy to change directions at 160 km/hr.  Velocity is a vector.  It likes to go straight.   Kenzie also crashed at Mosport before I recall from his past articles.

And perhaps there's a granny forum you should join, rather than this one.  Kenzie is a professional, and his article clearly shows that.

So true

Also I believe the roads are closed for Targa, so it is a closed course
