Diesel engines with CVT
« on: July 18, 2008, 07:42:15 pm »
Are there examples of diesel engines paired with CVTs? I'd guess CVTs would complement diesel engines on account of their narrow power bands. However, I can't think of any cars that combine diesel engines with CVTs.

It will be interesting to see next years Maxima with a diesel if it's mated to a CVT or not

can a cvt take the torque of diesel?

If it is designed and built for high torque applications.   Subaru may be working on one:

Thanks for the links. The Autoblog link has comments that discuss pros and cons of diesel-CVT setups.
