Interesting read... and conclusion. It seems like Subaru can't win against Mitus with any performance model... On the other hand, not even the "baby-rally" cars can't beat Mazdaspeed3. Enjoy.

... The 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart, however, puts up a genuine fight with a good overall driving experience and lots of amenities. If it cost $1,000 less and had better tires, the Ralliart would win this contest hands down.

Maybe Mitsu will equip it with better tires next year.

The cost part is uncertain as the price hasn't been announced yet. Also, wait for a year or so and the selling prices will go down significantly as with most cars.

Where Mitsu should work is the brakes; the Ralliart stopped as long as my Outlander; and then to fix the few unacceptable fit and finish issues. Mazda is up few notches on this respect.
