What is your reference point (i.e. where do you live now) to compare Windsor too?

Judging by the mls.ca listings for Windsor in the $60k-$70k range, none of those are houses I would live in, let alone rent.

Thats a bit harsh. They can't be all bad.  :)

I have a boat launch, beach rights, huge yard, 2.5 garage etc...Expect to pay around $150,000 for a place like this.

Thats nothing. I have about $230,000 to spend on a house that is what the bank will loan me. But I want to live as close as possible to downtown.

a PM and I'll give you my home and cell numbers and we'll connect this weekend...

Thanks I would like that. But I'm coming with a group of people from my company on  Saturday. It is going to be very corporate. I got one day to decide. If I say yes and take the Job and move to Windsor. I'll PM you and we can meet up. You can give the big tour of my new found city. I'll pay for the gas. :)

I always thought Windsor was a pretty good place to live.  It has two lakes very close by and has a wonderful river front park system.  It's easy to get around because of it's size and there are some pretty nice areas to live in.  I would suggest Riverside, Walkerville or South Windsor if you stay in the city or the far east suburbs eg. Lakeshore.  The air is cleaner in these areas.

Noted.  ;)

Good Info so far Thxs. ;D

..Methinks the JOB,it's remuneration, perks & satisfaction should RULE the decision....not the lay of the land after all it's near SARNIA fer weekend getaways..... :stick:

Both schools are called St Clair Saffi but one is a College and the other is a very good University. The nicer areas to live are outon a road they call Riverside which is a very nice area . It runs along the river for miles and is really a pretty area. My youngest daughter lives out that way. Windsor is a very decent city and a nice place to live with lots of culture and many different things to do as well. The Freedom Festival in June I believe is a fine example of events.  :)

I would think more than the automotive industry, Windsor has been affected by the dollar exchange. People used to come from Detroit/MI to the Windsor casino or spend/shop in Canada, but the reverse is true now. And Detoit has what, 3-4 casinos? I could see a lot of store space for rent/lease and a worsening economy in Windsor. But dang, those house prices are good and I really don't think it's a bad place to live... drove through a few weeks ago and quite liked the area. You can have a country-ish modern house practically in the city for very little, and cut your commute to next to nothing at very little cost $ or otherwise.

Well I turn the job down. I really like the town and the people. But I feel after I spent 2 days in Windsor. looking at sites. All the town  seams to be for sale or for lease. hundreds of houses for sale too. The economy doesn't  feel great I think it would be a mistake. I think the town is dying. I can't get used to the fact that I can see things I would like to go in. Like there is a really nice park that I could never go in. I see people, dogs and cars. I can bat a ball in to that park. Yet I could never go there without a 1-2 hour border crossing. For a park I can almost touch. Same goes for the downtown across the river. Also I have never seen so many retail spaces for lease. I kept thinking as I looked at the Detroit skyline. if  I lived in Windsor. I would rather be in Detroit. Being as I am a fairly urban person. :)

I'm not sure I like the feel of a border town thats weird too.

The border does not take 1-2 hours.  That's crazy talk..who told you that??  If it took that long I would be crossing over 1-2 times a week.....

At night drivers slow down, look, but then proceed thru red lights as a matter of routine.  Just to stay alive.

It all depends on the area of course...

Yea, no kidding....Detroit was the murder capital of the USA..and has always fought for that "honor".  Windsor has 3-4 murders a year, Detroit has 400.  Be my guest if you want to live there...

Well it does take a while. Have you time the drive to that park than you can almost  touch. :P

Detroit. I love the city. it is really dangerous and exciting in parts. But not every where is bad. I love the look of the place I think it is a great city. :)

I think Winsor is one of the places that you get stuck. Because it is so disproportion to every where else. :-\

It seams such a long way from everthing else in Ontario. I find it to be very flat the land just east of Windsor too. :)
