Must be a big seller, Sonata now has 0% for 72 months

Damn, that is very, very nice.

Exactly.  I paid $18295. plus $1395. transport for my '08 Sonata GL 5 speed.  At that price, nothing can touch it for value.

And what's wrong with a 162 HP 2.4L 4 cylinder?  It's a modern unit and moves the car very well. Remember that +/- 9 second 0-60 MPH was considered sport sedan territory not that many years ago.  Not everybody needs low 5's mainstream sedans.

My biggest complaint so far is an annoying rear package shelf rattle that I hope to get fixed at the dealer tomorrow at 1:00PM.

Also, the mid-life refresh with new interior will come for the '09 MY because the '08's are out since June with no significant changes.

Wow!  A Sonata for under $20,000.00 before delivery charges? :o   That is sub-compact to compact car territory!  Congrats!

I agree - not everyone cares about getting from 0-60 in 6 seconds.

:iagree: thats why most midsize cars sold are 4-cyl versions. 2007 Camry has a bit less power than the Sonata, 158hp 2.4L 4 cylinder, does 0-60 in 8.7 seconds according to caranddriver.com.

The V6 version of Sonata does 0-60 in 6.6 seconds for those who prefer more power.

Car and Driver got similar numbers for the Altima 2.5.  It's got more grunt than many people think.

The "numbers" are next to useless; it's how the powertrain performs thru all ranges: accelerating and decelerating, trouble free and in ten years from now.  :P   Only two meet the grade: Accord and Camry. All others are substandard second tier.  :-*

Fair enough.

But now, you're talking about resale value.  And here again will Camry and Accord win the race (no pun intended), hands down.

past 10 years

hmmm .... don't see the word "past"  ::)

Point is  :) that those two aforementioned cars will go ten years or 300,000 km without a problem in the powertrain assuming general maintenance.  Whether one keeps it that long or not is irrelevant because the demand/value will be there were it won't be for the others.  :)

I have GMs with over 300,000 km with no tranny maintence, and had no problems, either you get a good car from the factory or it a lemon, this is true with all companies

Between my wife and I we have owned SEVERAL Hondas, Toyotas and Nissans.  I have found NO meaningful differences between them in terms of reliability.  Most reliable have been: Toyota Tercel and Nissan Maxima.

Least reliable (but still pretty good) has been: Honda Civic.
