Meet & Greet for Victoria Day weekend?
« on: May 07, 2007, 10:15:38 pm »
I have the Victoria Day weekend - and the one after that too - to myself and was wondering if any of you would be willing to get together over the Victoria Day Weekend.  I'm willing to drive as far as Ottawa.

I was envisioning cars, BBQs, cycling and general camaraderie. ;) :D

I wish I could offer some Montreal hospitality but I can't really provide a proper home base for a get together these days.  :(

I know some of you might be headed to Shannonville on the 18th, so why not make it a full weekend with some more fun in the nation's capital?
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass...and I'm all out of bubblegum.    -    John Nada (played by Roddy Piper) in "They Live"

Hmm... I'll be close to the Ottawa area... but likely workin' too hard gettin' the dock in the water, the boat ready and generally just preppin' for summer.

Still... if I can steal away for a few hours, I might...

I'd go but the P1800 is laid up while I replace the rad and water pump. I don't think either of us care for the Eastern heat and humidity either.

Right…how many times has the GTA bunch left the GTS for a meet? How many times have I driven down to the GTA for a meet?

Well I flew from Edmonton to Mexico City for a New Year's Party once; but I'll be damned if I'm driving to the CofU for a car-nuts get together..... ;D ;D

Nothing personal, folks.  8)

Well, the intended inference was that people who were going to be in or around the Ottawa area could also enjoy a get together, as well as a long holiday weekend.  ;D

Be that as it may, it would also involve an Ottawa native to act as a proxy host to pull the whole shebang into one cohesive whole.  I was hoping that either Wing or Las or even -gasp!- Shnak (assuming he still lurks here) might put up his hand and volunteer, if only to suggest some appropriate starting place.

Anyway, I'll give it another few days and if nobody shows an interest, I'll call it a bust and try again around F1 race weekend here in Montreal.  Who knows, that might work better.  ;)  Put in your votes for that choice if you like that one better.

I'll be in Montréal for Victoria Day week-end (Fri-Sun most likely), but going with people who wouldn't exactly be keen on stopping in to talk with a bunch of car geeks. What's wrong with them is what I want to know?!

Otherwise sounds like fun.

One car driving three hours south is more environmentally friendly than eight cars driving three hours north.

Oh... and I'm lazy.   :)

I also drive thru all kinds of car accidents every year to come to Toronto for the meets myself. Don't seem to matter which routew i take as they will be shut down due to some Dummys who don't know how to drive properly at all.  :)

OK, this attempt is now officially a bust.  :(

I've got to shut this one down now as I have to book early if I want to do something else.

Anyway, there is always F1 weekend in June!  Feel free to start a thread in this forum.

BTW, thanks for the replies.  It's always appreciated when people let you know whether they are coming.

You might want to lock this thread lest we keep flapping our gums.  :)

For the record, I have tickets to "We Will Rock You" on Sunday the 20th, so I wasn't planning any road trips.  F1 weekend might be fun, but I will have to check my schedule.

Thread is locked, but I'm sure you'll all keep flapping elsewhere.   ;)
