Looks pretty good! Even if a little low-roofed wagony, it's still large enough.

Too bad Mazda North American operations deemed it too small for our markets. I still like the MPV, and the 5 really isn't a true minivan, as capable as it is. No V6, and not quite enough room.

Check out this photo with the aircraft-style seats!

Really sad this minivan isn't coming to North America  :'( It was the first minivan that truely was as good or equal to the Caravan way back in '87/'88 when it was first premiered, and if they would have updated it sooner I bet it would have sold much better. The new one would actually be different, slick, and quite competitive in the segment. The engine would just need to be larger is all.

They didn't think this new MPV was "big" enough for the American market.

I think that was always the problem with the MPV - it was seen as being "too small" in a market that says "bigger is better".  ::)

Judging by how much under MSRP one can get an MPV these days, I am not surprise Mazda is going to drop it off our line-up.

Well it's been around for awhile now, and beyond size there were other aspects not quite up to snuff. Also, the GFX package looks good on it but it's always been a bit rolly-polly and narrow-but-tall. The new redesigned one looks very sharp, with loads of nifty features, and would be in the game once again as far as I'm seeing it.

Anyhow, don't see many people crying over this except me. Always thought the MPV was a unique vehicle, and it's the pioneering Japanese minivan. Previa, Sienna, Odyssey, Quest, etc all came after. In the early '90's it was quite sucessful.

For our markets, that MPV would fight with the Mazda5.
