Author Topic: Anyone know if Altima (02-04) or Maxima wheels (93-04) will fit an 05 X-Trail?  (Read 4716 times)

I have an 05 X-Trail SE with AWD and the stock 16 inch alloy rims and 215/65-16 tires.  The OEM alloy wheel setup is a 16x6-1/2JJ (Offset 40mm) with a 5x114.3mm bolt pattern.

Outside of Canada (i.e. the UK), the X-Trail is available with a stock 15 inch steel rim.  I would like to buy a set of steel rims for winter tires.  I would prefer 15 inch diameter wheels for this purpose.

I noticed the following Nissan OEM steel wheels have the same mounting bolt pattern:
1) Maxima (93-94 or 95-99) in a 15x6 size
2) Maxima (00-01) in a 16x6.5 size
3) Altima (02-04) in a 16x6.5 size

Since the OEM 16x6.5 steel wheels (stock on a base model) cost $155.63 ea (!) from the dealer, I am looking for any cheaper alterative.  Does anyone know if any of the wheels listed above or any other wheels actually fit and would be hub-centric?   Thanks to all for any help.  ::)

As far as I know, the pre-2002 Altima has 4-lug hubs (i.e. 4x114). Therefore a wheel from a 95 Altima will not "fit".

I'm pretty sure the newer Altima and Maxima rims are the same offset and lug pattern.
I was considering doing the same thing myself.  I have the base model with stock steel rims, so I may just use those for the winter tires and pick up some nice alloys for summer use.
I used studded snow tires last year, and the x-trail was amazing in all winter road conditions.

I picked up a set of OEM steelies from a dealer for $300, all in.  They were takeoffs from a base model they tarted up with 18" alloys.

And the Gislaved NordFrost 3 (unstudded) winters on mine rock in the snow.  I tried to toss her around last winter, but no dice.  She tracked too well.  No obvious dry handling issues, but then, the OEM Dunlops are dubious in that regard themselves.

02 - 06 Altima steels will fit on the X-Trail. Here are some options:

Thank you for the info and your help.  I just ordered from TireTrends a set of take-offs and Toyo Observe GO-2 tires. Can't wait for snow now!  :D
